A recent story I saw on Deadspin about a Lacrosse coach throwing an e-mail temper tantrum had me looking on the internet for more about the guy. I mean, when you read the e-mails it’s hard not to think that the coach isn’t completely insane. Maybe we’ll find out later that his email was hacked.
It hit me harder personally because I once had an extreme asshole coach — but it was basketball. Sure, he knew a lot about the game, but it didn’t matter.
He wished he was a college coach, but he wasn’t. He coached high school and middle school kids, but he treated them like adults. By that I mean he yelled a lot and used profane language to get our attention.
We called him “little Bobby Knight” in the locker room. He’d have us watch Indiana game tape and he threw a chair across the floor during practice. That man made me hate playing organized basketball. Call me a whiny little baby, I don’t care. At that time in my life, the last thing I needed was another person yelling at me.
But this Cabell Maddux guy, from what I’ve read, coaches 8th graders. You know, 14 year olds. Read the e-mails on the Deadspin page here. They are too long to publish. They go way over the line. Quite honestly, you would think the parents killed the guy’s pet rattlesnake and ate it in front of him.
So I went looking around the internet and found this little thread here where people joke about how he is the “Bobby Knight of DC LAX.” I’m not sure how many people remember Bobby Knight anymore, but he seems more like the Mike Rice of DC LAX.

Dude was a ticking time bomb. Once he started he wouldn’t stop either. I have had a very bad experience with him through MadLax…
I have played against his Potomac squad twice during my time at PVI and I must say I think they would be a much better team if they had a coach who was like Maddux in the lacrosse knowledge department but a completely opposite personality with everything else. I am good friends with a few of their players and they have told me they absolutely hate him and let’s be honest…very few people can respond well to constant yelling.

OK, that’s enough. Now, if you read the whole message board you will see that certain commenters come on there to violently defend Maddux. The colorfully abusive language is eerily similar to the type of language Maddux used in his emails to the parents. His writing style is, unique, shall we say.
I’m expecting some crazy, violent comments below. But hey dude, I didn’t make you write AND ACTUALLY SEND that bats**t crazy email. According to Deadspin, you did it. They wrote about it and now a s**tload of people know about it.
I just hate asshole coaches. They make sports suck for kids. There are plenty of good coaches who don’t belittle and berate children and their parents. Send your kids to those coaches.
That is, unless you feel like your kids are pansy-twats who need a major dickface to kick their little p***y asses around to keep them from turning into little p***yf****ts then by all means, send your kids to these boot camp coaches. Now that I think about it, I really don’t give a s**t what you do with your kids.
